Can you afford not
to use Aeroseal?

Duct leaks can depressurize your house causing flue gases to flow the wrong way (e.g., sucking fireplace smoke down your chimney). Aeroseal limits your risk of backdrafts.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Aeroseal work?

If your duct system needs to be sealed, a patented computer-controlled injection machine sends small particles of aeroseal sealant through the duct system to plug the holes. Aeroseal Technology deposits small adhesive particles directly on the edges of holes in your ducts-bridging the cracks to create seals.

What is the Aeroseal process?

Aeroseal of Michigan seals all registers and cold air returns and takes an initial duct leakage reading using computerized duct system diagnostics. The computer then registers this information and blows the nontoxic Aeroseal mist through a plastic tube hooked to the main duct feed.

Where was the Aeroseal Technology invented?

The sealing technology was invented in 1994 at the University of California. Research to develop Aeroseal was funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, the California Institute for Energy Efficiency and the Electric Power Research Institute. The University of California was granted a patent in 1999, and Aeroseal Inc., holds an exclusive license to the technology.

Is Aeroseal safe?

Yes. Two chemicals make up Aeroseal. They are vinyl acetate polymer (VAP) and 2-ethyl-1 hexanol (2E1H). The main chemical is VAP, which is a non-volatile form of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) which has been used in water-based paints, adhesives and hair spray. VAP has been used as a chewing gum base. VAP has no OSHA permissible Exposure Limit and does not sustain combustion. 2E1H is a common industrial solvent and is not considered toxic by OSHA.

Who is currently using Aeroseal?

Even though Aeroseal technology is less than a decade old it has been used on more than 100,000 homes nationwide.
